New Welcome Packets, Telephone Directory and Website Will Be Available Soon

We’ve been busy this spring! The University Heights Association has given the green light to several projects that desperately needed updating. New welcome packets for new neighbors will be available soon. Concise, easy to read, and full of useful information, plus a history of our subdivision, this publication has a new life. The welcome packet will be available online and in hard copy too.

We now have an updated neighborhood directory that will be distributed shortly and will be available online too. You’ll be able to retire your centennial edition from 2005.

And, we are in the process of re-designing and updating the neighborhood website. We want you to have the most up-to-date info about what’s going on here. New photos, vital information to help you navigate life in the neighborhood, and a wonderful history of how we began. The website will be the eventual home of the telephone directory, the new neighbor packets, gate key access and a detailed explanation of our trustees’ responsibilities.

Thanks go out to Judy Baernstein, Linda Ballard, Kate Pichon, Myra Vandersall and Ashley Porter for their work on these projects.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Dear New Neighbor,

Welcome to University Heights! This page of useful information about your neighborhood is one of the many services of the University Heights Association. The Association is a voluntary organization of families who are interested in making their neighborhood their home. Membership is open to all residents of University Heights Subdivision Number 1. With your membership in the Association, you have input into the development of your neighborhood and you contribute to the strength of your community.

The Association publishes “Fence Talk”, a newsletter to keep you informed of activities in and around University Heights. Fence Talk is distributed to all homes in the subdivision. A social highlight of the community is the annual picnic sponsored by the Association in the fall. In December, we celebrate the Winter Solstice with a luminaria display coordinated by the Association. In April, the Association holds its annual meeting for the election of board members and general discussion of matters of interest and concern to residents. Ten monthly board meetings are held at the homes of various board members. Notice of the time and place of these meetings is posted at the entrance to our subdivision. As a member of the Association, you are extended a standing invitation to attend these meetings and to share your interests and ideas with your neighbors.

When you purchased your home in University Heights, you probably learned of the Subdivision Trustees. The Trustees were created by the trust indenture of the subdivision and are charged by that document with the responsibility of maintaining the private streets and character of the subdivision in accordance with the provision of the Trust Agreement. The annual Trustee’s Assessment is authorized by this trust indenture as a means of producing revenue to maintain streets and for other services provided by the Trustees. The Board of Trustees, consisting of three persons, is the legal mechanism for maintaining University Heights as a private subdivision.

The University Heights Association works with the Trustees to maintain the high quality of services in the neighborhood. The Association is financed by annual membership dues. No part of the Trustee assessment goes to the Association. We need your participation to continue to serve our community. Your interest and involvement in the University Heights Association is of benefit to you and your neighbors. A membership form is included in this packet. We hope you will join us.

Sincerely,

The University Heights Association
